Public Health Nursing Information

While most nurses care for one patient at a time, public health nurses care for entire populations. By working with whole communities, public health nurses are able to educate people about health issues, improve community health and safety and increase access to care.

PHNAA is accepting nominations for Outstanding Public Health Nurse. This award honors a Public Health Nurse who has made a creative and lasting contribution to public health nursing in Arkansas. This RN has enhanced the professional stature of Public Health Nursing through a commitment to the core public health functions and essential public health services, resulting in improved quality of services delivered to individuals, families or communities.  Click here for the application.  Deadline is March 18, 2020. PHNAA is also accepting applications for the Donetta McGriff $1000 scholarship. This scholarship's purpose is to assist Department of Health employees working in a community public health setting with an opportunity for educational advancement in order to further their education in nursing careers.
